In general Al-Ahsa population are famous for their crafts and traditional industries related to the economic activities of the people and their needs, such as textile industries, goldsmiths' works, palm leaf products, wooden products, blacksmithing, copper, ornaments, silver, pottery and the restoration of clay buildings. Some of these products creating at home with the help and participation of women, including:
The coffee pot(Dallah):
Made of copper and used to prepare Arabic coffee, Dallah Al-Ahsa is known throughout the Gulf countries for its beauty, design, and appearance.
Pottery:
The nature of life necessitated the establishment of this industry by local clay and the production of household goods such as air coolers, boilers, and others. This profession is famous in Al-Ahsa and found in Mount Al-Qarah, which was developed and opened to visitors through a project of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.
Leaves products:
- fibers and palm branches are used for construction and agriculture. Moreover, make pillows and cushions placed in the Arab traditional sitting posture. As well as the four-bag bag (Marwa): each of which looks like a cone for carrying water pots.
Palm-leave products:
Palm is the basis of life in Al-Ahsa, and the raw products of the palm are involved in many traditional industries, such as food mats, dates, gabions, hand fans, food covers, and hand-made airscrews.
Al-Sumut:
It is a leafless palm branch cut into sticks, and several products, are made from it, the most important of which are: cages for wet, milk, and manz (baby bed).
Al-Madad, (Carpets):
These are mats to sit on the ground; the name derives from its lengthy extension that sometimes exceeds 10 meters. Moreover, they are set on the floors of houses and mosques to protect against dust and the cold or heat of the earth, made of a plant locally called (Al-Asl).
Albushoot (Bisht):
Al-Ahsa is famous in the Bisht industry in the Kingdom, as well as in Arab countries, which is one of the finest types of Bisht and is found in multiple sizes and colors and is characterized by high demand for it, especially from princes, ministers, and scientists.
Blacksmithing:
Due to the nature of Al-Ahsa and its agricultural prosperity, it requires many tools made of iron. Thus, some families practiced blacksmithing and established this profession, and the products of this craft include pots, trays, sickles, tools, and accessories used in several fields.
Whistle:
One of the most famous crafts in Al-Ahsa is cleaning and polishing metal utensils made of copper and silver until it returns as shiny as new, such as the coffee pot(Dallah).
Al-Saram:
A craftsman farmer who harvests the wet grains in their seasons from the taste of the palm. He cuts the taste of dates after maturity from the palm with a sickle.
Baker:
Al-Ahsa has been famous since ancient times for white and red Hasawi bread made of flour and dates, in addition to regal bread, known as (Tawa bread) and folded bread applied to iron sheets, and some of this craft practiced by women in cities and villages.
