The Municipality of Al-Ahsa participated in the annual meeting of cities that are members of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of handcrafts and folk arts, held in Ballarat, Australia, in May 2024. This participation is part of Al-Ahsa's ongoing commitment since it was granted membership in the global network for creativity, represented as an initiative by the Municipality of Al-Ahsa.
During the meeting, the "Creative Al-Ahsa" initiative was showcased, emphasizing the importance of integrating and strengthening the connection between education, cultural activities, and creative industries to enhance the sustainability of handcrafts and folk arts. Moreover, participate in academic presentations and discussion panels on the theme of "Synergy between Culture and Education."
Furthermore, a presentation was given on "Al-Ahsa as a Major National and Regional Tourism Destination," highlighting its potential for tourism success, as well as its creative assets that place it on par with other global cities. The presentation also shed light on Al-Ahsa’s rich cultural heritage, its deep historical legacy, and the region’s experiences in preserving handicrafts and folk arts, alongside displaying samples of traditional and handmade works.
