Al-Ahsa reviews its global files at the meeting of creative cities in Japan

The mayor of Al-Ahsa, Eng. Adel bin Mohammed Al-Mulhim,the Head of the Al-Ahsa Creative Delegation presented in the annual meeting of the member cities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Kanazawa, Japan, In the presence of the Mayor of the city, Mr. "Yamano Yakyoshi" and the representatives of 30 countries around the world, a detailed presentation on the global and regional files obtained by Ahsa(Selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018, membership of the Creative Cities Network in Handicrafts and Folklore in 2015, Arab Tourism Capital 2019).

Al-Mulhim reviewed several projects and events carried out in Al-Ahsa that would promote cultural activities in line with the objectives of the Creative Network. Which have a role in creativity, culture and making cities more humane, inclusive, safe and sustainable, He stressed that Al-Ahsa and the government support the heritage and creative aspects that led to an upward rise in social awareness indicators and the continuity of interest in the transfer of heritage of all kinds to future generations and spread awareness to all and the community of the importance of authentic culture and creativity in the formation of sustainable city and achieve the objectives of the UNESCO network to confirm the important role occupied by culture in development Sustainable urbanization

He pointed out that Al-Ahsa possesses several cultural and heritage elements that qualified it to be a member of the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities for the first time in the Kingdom and the Arabian Gulf. One of these elements (Al-Ahsa considered the depth of civilization of all the Gulf states, Owning a rich heritage of crafts and folklore, environmental and social diversity, infrastructure provides “folk markets, artisan market”, active participation in national, regional and international events and events).

It is noteworthy that Al-Ahsa creative delegation participated in the handicraft shows through the exchange of experiences and benefit from experiences that will contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals issued by the United Nations.
